According to a report by Axios, Meta has appointed Connor Hayes, the company’s Vice President of Product for Generative AI, as the new head of Threads.

Previously, Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, was overseeing Threads. However, as the platform has expanded beyond being a subsidiary of Instagram, it requires dedicated leadership to manage its growth.

Despite launching only in 2023, Threads has seen rapid growth, with its mobile daily active user (DAU) numbers approaching those of X, as reported by market intelligence provider Similarweb. Currently, Threads averages around 115 million DAUs on mobile, with X’s DAU numbers reaching approximately 132 million.

TechCrunch has reached out to Meta for a comment on this development.
