Midsommer, The Green Knight, Hereditary, Minari. These exceptional independent films are a far cry from the typical Marvel movie, yet they are referenced in the latest footage from Thunderbolts, the upcoming anti-Avengers team-up film, set to hit theaters on May 2.

The film boasts an impressive cast, including Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, Olga Kurylenko, Hannah John-Kamen, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus, all reprising their roles from previous Marvel movies and shows. Notably, the credits also highlight the involvement of “The writers and director of Beef,” namely Lee Sung Jin and Jake Schreier. Additionally, the production designer of Hereditary, Grace Yun, the editor of Minari, Harry Yoon, and the composers of Everything Everywhere All at Once, Son Lux, are also credited. These individuals bring a wealth of experience from the independent film scene to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
