The upcoming overhaul of Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run by The Mandalorian & Grogu in 2026 promises to be a game-changer in multiple ways. As previously announced, the revamped ride will feature new destinations, including Tatooine, Cloud City, and the wreckage of the second Death Star. However, it has now been revealed that the ride will also take visitors to the city-planet of Coruscant. Furthermore, the experience will offer multiple paths, with the Engineer playing a crucial role in determining the ride’s trajectory.

The rebranded ride, set to launch in May 2026, coinciding with the release of the movie, will feature a new narrative. Hondo Ohnaka will inform park guests that he has secured a deal with the New Republic to retrieve Imperial remnants, and has hired the Mandalorian for protection. Nevertheless, as is often the case with Hondo, his true intentions are shrouded in deception, prompting the New Republic to intervene as the Millennium Falcon and the Razor Crest navigate these locations, acquiring stolen goods.

On the Smugglers Run ride, guests can assume one of three roles: pilot, gunner, or engineer. While the engineer role may have been perceived as less exciting in the past, the updated ride will empower this position to choose the planet to visit. Additionally, the engineer will interact with Grogu via a small screen.

Recently unveiled concept art provides a glimpse into the thrilling experiences awaiting visitors. On Tatooine, the ride will take guests past a Sandcrawler, through Beggars Canyon, and amidst the remnants of a Krayt Dragon. Cloud City will feature all-new areas, including a loading dock that is currently a part of the Star Tours ride. The Death Star segment will involve a tense trench run, requiring riders to evade various debris. Finally, on Coruscant, the ride will descend into the planet’s levels, with a sneak peek video showcasing the Falcon engaging in a dogfight with an Imperial Cruiser.

As the ride is still under development, primarily during evening hours when the park is closed, further details are expected to emerge as the 2026 opening date approaches for both Disneyland and Walt Disney World.
