This week, the movie industry has gathered at CinemaCon, where movie studios are showcasing their upcoming releases to theater representatives and invited media. Tonight, Warner Bros. took the stage, and James Gunn and DC Studios closed out the presentation with a sneak peek at this summer’s highly anticipated Superman film.

James Gunn dubbed this summer as “the summer of Superman,” but based on the extended footage shown at CinemaCon, it’s possible that it might actually be the summer of Krypto, Superman’s trusty canine companion. Krypto played a significant role in the film’s first trailer, and the new footage revealed even more about their bond.

The footage followed a similar structure to the trailer but provided additional context to the story. For instance, the trailer showed Superman being beaten in the snow and calling out for Krypto to take him home. The new footage expanded on this scene, showing Krypto’s antics as he tries to help Superman, including jumping on top of him, biting him, and grabbing his leg. Despite the chaos, the scene was lighthearted and cute, with Krypto eventually dragging Superman home by his cape.

Their home is the iconic Fortress of Solitude, which emerges from the snow with a striking diamond-shaped door. As they enter, four robots converge on Superman, each with a numerical designation and a lack of humor. The robots assess Superman’s injuries, which are extensive, but thankfully, a little sunlight should do the trick. The Fortress adjusts its position to face the sun, and a massive glass magnifying glass is formed to channel the sun’s energy onto Superman, helping him heal.

One of the robots, designated as number 12, catches Superman’s attention, and he can’t help but smile at her. The robots continue to tend to Superman’s injuries, and as he recovers, the footage transitions into scenes from the trailer, with a few new additions, including a heartwarming moment between Clark and Lois in her apartment.

As the trailer comes to a close, we see Superman preparing to leave the Fortress, with Krypto by his side. The loyal dog keeps snapping at the robots as they try to assist Superman, causing a bit of annoyance, but when Krypto whimpers as Superman departs, he can’t help but smile before flying off.
