We were impressed by the Colorsoft in our official review, calling it the “missing link in Amazon’s e-reader lineup” due to its color screen. Amazon took 17 years to release a color e-reader, citing that the technology wasn’t advanced enough until recently.

The result is a vibrant display with colors that truly pop, making it an ideal choice for those who read full-color materials like comics and graphic novels. The device features a pinch-to-zoom function and an auto-adjusting front light. Like most modern Kindles, the pages turn quickly, and the lag is minimal. It’s also waterproof, perfect for reading by the pool or in the bathtub.

One notable advantage of this model is that it doesn’t include lock screen ads by default. However, the primary downside is the cost, as it’s challenging to recommend any e-reader at a price of $280, even one that displays color. At $225, though, this premium product is easier to recommend.
