Kevin Bacon takes on the role of a bail bondsman who is brought back from the dead to continue his work, but with a twist – instead of pursuing ordinary humans, he is now tasked with chasing down demons that have escaped from hell. This is the premise of the new Prime Video series from Blumhouse Television and Amazon MGM Studios, and the latest trailer suggests that the finished product will be just as entertaining as one might hope. Imagine Kevin Bacon wielding a flaming chainsaw!

The trailer evokes the monster-fighting spirit of Ash vs. Evil Dead, with a hint of The Good Place‘s afterlife bureaucracy – comparisons that are not made lightly. What’s more, The Bondsman promises to have a larger mythology at play, with Bacon’s character, Hub Halloran, drawn into an underworld-linked mystery that will force him to question his devilishly granted immortality. Notably, country star turned actor Jennifer Nettles (The Righteous Gemstones, The Exorcist) plays Hub’s wife, and the trailer shows Nettles and Bacon – a musician in his own right – performing together on stage.

In the official description, country music gets a nod: “Kevin Bacon stars as Hub Halloran, a murdered bounty hunter, who’s back from the dead after being resurrected by the Devil to trap and send back demons that have escaped from the prison of Hell. By chasing down those demons, with the help and hindrance of his estranged family, Hub learns how his own sins got his soul condemned – which pushes him to seek a second chance at life, love, and country music.”

We’re sold. The rest of the cast includes Damon Herriman (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Justified), Beth Grant (No Country for Old Men, Donnie Darko), Maxwell Jenkins (Arcadian, Lost in Space), and Jolene Purdy (The White Lotus, Orange Is the New Black).

All eight episodes of The Bondsman will be available on Prime Video starting April 3, giving you the opportunity to indulge in the guilty pleasure of binge-watching the entire series in one sitting.
