Netflix Taps Justin Lin to Direct BRZRKR Movie Adaptation
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix has selected Justin Lin, the director of the Fast & Furious franchise, to helm its upcoming film adaptation of BRZRKR, a popular comic series created by Keanu Reeves and Matt Kindt. The comic follows the story of an immortal warrior. Initially, Netflix had announced plans to develop both a live-action film and an anime series based on BRZRKR in 2021, with Reeves set to star in the live-action movie and voice his character in the anime series. However, there have been few updates on the projects since the initial announcement. Meanwhile, Reeves and author China Miéville have delved back into the BRZRKR universe with the release of The Book of Elsewhere last year.
Although the release dates for the Netflix adaptations have not been disclosed, it is anticipated that both will feature intense action and violence. The BRZRKR comic series revolves around a half-mortal, half-god character known as “B,” who has endured 80,000 years of life and combat. By the time he undertakes a mission to kill for the US government, he is weary of his immortality and seeking an escape. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Terminator Zero showrunner Mattson Tomlin is tasked with writing the screenplay for both the film and anime adaptations.
