JBL has unveiled a pair of portable speakers that leverage the company’s AI Sound Boost technology, which analyzes the signal to maximize driver performance while minimizing distortion, resulting in an enhancement of sound quality.
The Flip 7 boasts an interchangeable strap and carabiner, as well as an updated control layout compared to its predecessor. Given that the Flip 6 was featured on our list of the best portable Bluetooth speakers, any improvements are a welcome addition. The Flip 7 also features an upgraded woofer with increased output power, which should further enhance the sound quality.
The battery life of the Flip 7 is impressive, offering 14 hours of use per charge. The Playtime Boost feature, which reduces bass to extend usage, adds an additional two hours of playtime. The Flip 7 also supports multi-speaker output via Auracast and can play lossless audio over USB-C, similar to the Beats Pill. Preorders are currently available, with shipments scheduled to begin on April 6, and the speaker is priced at $150.
The Charge 6 features a new design with an updated button layout and a detachable, reconfigurable strap. Like the Flip 7, it includes a redesigned woofer for enhanced audio. The battery life is exceptional, offering 24 hours of use per charge, which is several hours more than the Charge 5. It also includes the Playtime Boost feature for extended playtime and a quick-charge feature.
This speaker can be integrated into a larger system via Auracast. Preorders are available now, and shipments will begin on April 6. The extended battery life does increase the price, with the Charge 6 costing $200.
