Borderlands 4 is Coming This Fall

Developer Gearbox revealed that the latest entry in the Borderlands series, Borderlands 4, is set to launch on September 23, 2025, at Sony’s latest State of Play event. Additionally, a standalone State of Play event will take place this spring, providing an in-depth look at the game in action.

Gameplay and Features

Like past Borderlands games, Borderlands 4 will feature shooting and looting, with a focus on looser and faster-paced movement. Players will be able to double jump, dodge, and grapple their way through the game, and play as four new vault hunters looking to make their fortune.

Original Announcement and Game Awards Debut

Borderlands 4 was originally announced during Gamescom in 2024, and Gearbox showcased a first glimpse of gameplay during the Game Awards. While the game’s gameplay trailer featured four new vault hunters having a bad day, it appears that the game’s overall design and mechanics are faithful to the series.

Launch Details

Borderlands 4 will launch on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on September 23, 2025.
