India’s cybersecurity watchdog, CERT-In, has issued a warning about two vulnerabilities in the popular Google Chrome browser that can be exploited by hackers. These warnings primarily affect Chrome users on Mac, PC, and laptop platforms, rather than smartphone users. If exploited, these vulnerabilities can compromise user data and devices, highlighting the importance of updating to the latest version of the browser. CERT-In has advised users to immediately apply the necessary security patches and update their Chrome browser to mitigate these risks.

Google Chrome Security Flaws: What Are They?

According to CERT-In’s website, Google Chrome is currently facing a significant vulnerability, CIVN-2025-0099. The watchdog has also stated that Chrome versions prior to 136.0.7103.113/.114 for Windows and Mac, and versions prior to 136.0.7103.113 for Linux, are at risk.

How These Security Flaws Can Affect Users

As per CERT-In, multiple vulnerabilities exist in Google Chrome (CIVN-2025-0099). CERT-In has cautioned that these vulnerabilities, if exploited, could result in sensitive data exposure or system instability. The agency explained that the flaws arise from inadequate policy enforcement in the browser’s Loader component and improper management in Mojo, which handles inter-process communication in Chrome.

“Multiple vulnerabilities exist in Google Chrome due to insufficient policy enforcement in Loader and incorrect handle provided in unspecified circumstances in Mojo. A remote attacker could exploit these vulnerabilities by persuading a victim to visit a specially crafted web page. Successful exploitation of these vulnerabilities could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the targeted system,” reads CERT-In’s warning.
