Google has initiated a trial of a revamped Search homepage, where the experimental AI-driven search feature, “AI Mode,” introduced earlier in May, takes the place of the long-standing “I’m Feeling Lucky” button situated below the Search bar.

According to a company spokesperson who spoke to The Verge, the publication that first broke the news of this modification, the feature has started to rollout to select users within Google’s experimental Labs environment, although there is a possibility that it might not be launched for the general public.

This trial is happening just one week prior to Google I/O, an event at which the company is anticipated to unveil significant updates to its AI-powered search capabilities.

Given that Google seldom alters its Search homepage, it may now be compelled to make changes. An Apple executive recently testified in court that Google searches conducted via Safari experienced a decline for the first time last month, attributing this shift to the increasing popularity of AI tools like ChatGPT.
