Since 2022, Google has been providing the Results About You feature, and it has undergone one update in 2023. As a component of Google Search, this tool searches for personal information about you online and enables you to request its removal. Today, the company is unveiling the latest changes, which include a redesigned interface and the ability to update outdated search results to reflect recent modifications.

The redesign is more than just cosmetic. You can now submit removal requests directly from Search with fewer steps by clicking or tapping the three dots next to a search result. If you succeed in having content about you deleted or modified from a website but Google Search hasn’t updated, you can refresh the search, which will “recrawl the page and retrieve the latest information.” In other words, you can always view the most current results about you.

Although these updates are useful, they don’t introduce any significant changes. The 2023 update to Results About You was more substantial, introducing proactive searches containing your information and the ability to remove consensual explicit images of yourself.

While Google didn’t introduce any major changes to “results about you” last year, it did become available in Australia and South Africa last May. However, this helpful privacy feature remains inaccessible in many countries, including Malaysia, where I’m from. Google also doesn’t specify where it’s available, so you’ll need to check your Google account to see if it works for you.
