Google Announces Its First Offshore Wind Power Purchase Agreement in Asia Pacific

Today, Google is announcing its first offshore wind power purchase agreement (PPA) in Taiwan, marking a significant milestone as its first in Asia Pacific.

The agreement involves Google purchasing renewable energy from the Fengmiao I offshore wind project, which is being developed by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners. Notably, this project is the first from Taiwan’s Round 3.1 auction to achieve financial close, making it a crucial catalyst for the development of the local offshore wind sector. Upon its operational launch in 2027, the project is expected to provide a reliable source of power for Google’s data center, cloud region, and offices in Taiwan.

This achievement adds to Google’s existing portfolio of renewable energy technologies in Taiwan, which already includes solar and geothermal energy solutions. These technologies provide reliable and cost-effective energy, helping to meet the rising demand for power while moving closer to Google’s goal of operating on 24/7 carbon-free energy (CFE) across every grid where it has operations.
