Empowering Nonprofits with AI Solutions

At the forefront of addressing community challenges are nonprofits, but to make a significant impact, they require access to cutting-edge technology like Artificial Intelligence (AI). According to a 2024 report by Google.org, a substantial gap exists: many nonprofits lack the necessary AI training to effectively leverage this technology. Although a majority believe that generative AI could benefit their communities, its adoption is still in the early stages.

To facilitate the adoption of AI skills among employees at American nonprofits, Google.org is providing $10 million in support to Project Evident, the Tech:NYC Foundation, and local community foundations across the U.S. These organizations will offer customized technical assistance, in-person working sessions, webinars, and peer learning opportunities on AI adoption and implementation to nonprofits at no cost.

Recipients of Google.org funding have reported that AI enables them to achieve their goals in approximately one-third of the time and at nearly half the cost. For instance, Erika’s Lighthouse accelerated content and curriculum development with Gemini by generating ideas for program names, concepts, and themes, freeing up their team’s time to focus on their nonprofit mission.

Today’s grant is part of Google.org’s $75 million AI Opportunity Fund, which aims to support best-in-class workforce development and education organizations in training over one million Americans on AI skills. We look forward to continued collaboration with industries, governments, and communities to ensure that everyone has access to essential AI skills.
