Google Gemini Live Conversation Summary Feature in the Works

Google is reportedly developing a simpler method to summarize Gemini Live conversations, making it easier for users to review key points from their discussions. According to recent reports from Android Authority, the tech giant is working on an automatic summarization feature for Gemini Live conversations.

Current Limitations and Future Enhancements

Currently, the only way to obtain a summary of a Gemini Live conversation is to request one before ending the conversation. However, there is no straightforward way to easily summarize the main points. The latest Google app beta version, numbered 16.6.23, includes prompts that suggest Google may automatically generate a summary of Gemini Live conversations in the form of a concise paragraph. This paragraph is expected to have a title highlighting key conversation points, a combination of topics and detailed sections, and will be devoid of clutter.

Rollout and Availability

The report further indicates that Google may introduce a one-click summarize option or automatically display a summary of the Gemini Live conversation. However, users will have to wait until the feature is rolled out. If implemented, this would provide the most efficient summarization alternative for Android users, including Samsung smartphone owners, who now have Gemini instead of Bixby on their Galaxy devices.

Additional Features in Development

In addition to the summarization feature, the same beta version of the Google app (16.6.23) suggests that the company may be working on a new "Caption Preferences" button under Gemini settings. This button would allow users to generate real-time captions for Gemini Live responses. The new Google app version is currently in the beta phase, with a stable rollout pending.
