Samsung is preparing to launch its seventh-generation foldable smartphones in the second half of this year, with expectations that they will come with One UI 8 pre-installed.
The South Korean technology company is expected to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 at the Galaxy Unpacked event in July 2025. According to a report from SamMobile, a reliable source, the upcoming foldable devices will ship with One UI 8, which is based on Android 16.
Earlier, it was believed that the next-generation foldable phones would run on Android 15 out of the box, given that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 had already appeared on the One UI 7 test server. However, a new report suggests that One UI 8 is more likely.
Traditionally, Google announces the latest Android version at the Google I/O event, which is scheduled to take place on May 20 and 21. At this event, Google will unveil the major upgrades and features of Android 16. The company has already started the Android 16 beta program and has released three beta updates, with the stable version expected to be released by the end of Q2 2025.
Since One UI 8 will be based on Android 16, Samsung is likely to incorporate most of the major changes and improvements introduced by Google. However, there is no official confirmation of this report yet. It remains to be seen whether the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 will indeed come with One UI 8 or One UI 7 pre-installed.
