The launch of the Galaxy S26 series by Samsung is still pending, but a recent report has sparked interest regarding the chipset for the upcoming Galaxy S27 Ultra, specifically the Snapdragon 8 Elite 3.

Lately, there have been reports that Qualcomm is preparing to unveil its next-generation chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, which is expected to power the Galaxy S26 Ultra. However, a new report suggests that Qualcomm has already begun working on the Snapdragon 8 Elite 3, ahead of the launch of its predecessor.

A trusted source, @Jukanlosreve, shared a post on X, claiming that Qualcomm plans to release two variants of the Snapdragon 8 Elite 3, codenamed SM8950 and SM8945. These variants are expected to offer different performance tiers, targeting various flagship devices.

According to rumors, both upcoming models of the chipset will be built using TSMC’s advanced 2nm process, which could lead to improved efficiency, faster speeds, and enhanced battery life. However, the high-end performance and 2nm process may result in a price increase for the chipset.

On the other hand, Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy S27 series in early 2027, with the Ultra variant, the Galaxy S27 Ultra, potentially powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite 3. If this expectation materializes, the expensive chip could lead to a higher price for the smartphone. Nevertheless, there is no official confirmation regarding these reports, so it remains to be seen how things will unfold.
