It has been confirmed by Samsung that the company is utilizing Micron’s DRAM and UFS 4.0 storage chips in the Galaxy S25 series, rather than relying on its own in-house DRAM and storage chipsets.

Prior to the launch of the Galaxy S25, there were rumors suggesting that Samsung would be abandoning its in-house RAM and storage chipsets in favor of Micron’s solutions for the upcoming series. Now, a month after the Galaxy S25 launch, Samsung has officially confirmed that the new high-end devices do not use in-house RAM and storage chipsets.

Micron, a leading American memory chip manufacturer, has announced that each variant of the Galaxy S25 series features its LPDDR5X DRAM and UFS 4.0 storage chips. Additionally, Micron shared a post on X, stating that it is the primary memory chip supplier for the Galaxy S25 series. Notably, Micron’s latest UFS 4.0 version is the world’s most compact UFS package, measuring 9 x 13 mm, which is an improvement over the previous version’s 11 x 13mm size.

Micron’s LPDDR5X DRAM chips are built using advanced 1-Beta process technology and feature design optimizations, allowing them to operate at lower voltage levels than competing chips. This results in improved battery life for devices that utilize these chips.

The Galaxy S25 series marks the first flagship Galaxy series to use RAM from a different brand, as all previous Galaxy S and Z lineup smartphones have used in-house DRAM and storage chips.
