Samsung has begun rolling out the March 2025 security update to its devices. Following the update’s release for the Galaxy S22 series a few days ago, the company is now expanding the latest patch to its predecessor, the Galaxy S21 lineup, for the first time.

The March 2025 security update for the Samsung Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra is identified by the build numbers G991NKSS8GYC1, G996NKSS8GYC1, and G998NKSS8GYC1, respectively.

Currently, the update is available in Samsung’s home country, South Korea, and is expected to reach more eligible regions in the coming days.

Generally, security patches are relatively small and do not introduce new features. Similarly, the latest software update focuses on integrating fixes for security vulnerabilities discovered in the previous version, aiming to provide a safer and more secure user experience, as well as protecting Galaxy devices from potential threats.

In addition to security fixes, the update also brings performance optimizations and stability improvements to the overall system behavior, resulting in smoother, more efficient, and optimized functionality.

It’s worth noting that Samsung has moved its 2021 S-series flagships from monthly to quarterly security update lists. As a result, the lineup is no longer eligible for Samsung’s monthly updates.
