Samsung has encountered another obstacle in the rollout of its Android 15-based One UI 7 update, as the company has halted the stable release for older Galaxy devices due to a critical issue. This delay has added to the growing frustration among users who are eagerly awaiting the new features and improvements that the update promises to bring.

The issues began when Samsung launched the One UI 7 beta program for the Galaxy S24 series in early December 2024. Following nearly five months of testing, the company started rolling out the stable version in early April, initially targeting the Galaxy S24, Z Flip6, and Z Fold6 series. However, shortly after users started exploring the update’s enhancements, Samsung abruptly paused the global distribution of the update.

The Serious Bug That Interrupted the Release of One UI 7

The decision to suspend the update is a result of a serious issue reported by South Korean users, particularly affecting Galaxy S24 devices. Renowned tipster Ice Universe revealed that the issue causes phones to malfunction during unlocking under specific conditions, rendering devices temporarily unusable. Initially, the problem was thought to be limited to Galaxy S24 models with the Exynos 2400 processor, but Samsung later extended the pause to include Snapdragon-powered variants as well. The update has since been pulled in Europe, the US, and South Korea.

The suspension has broader implications, as owners of the Galaxy S23 series now worry about potential further delays to their One UI 7 stable release. Samsung’s troubleshooting efforts could push back timelines for other devices, despite the extensive beta testing and prolonged development cycles aimed at ensuring a seamless launch. The company continues to struggle with unresolved critical issues, which undermines confidence in its software delivery process.

Although Samsung has not officially acknowledged the issue or confirmed the rollout pause, it is reportedly working to resolve the problem. Users who have already installed One UI 7 are expected to receive a patch in the coming weeks. However, the company has yet to provide a timeline for resuming the global rollout.

This setback highlights Samsung’s recurring challenges in delivering polished software updates, even after significant testing efforts. For users, the delay underscores the delicate balance between innovation and reliability – a balance that Samsung must strike to maintain trust in its ecosystem.

All eyes are focused on how quickly the tech giant can resolve the issue and deliver on its promise of a stable, feature-rich One UI 7 experience.
