According to a report by Wired, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has taken down more than 300 blog posts that were published during the tenure of former chair Lina Khan. These removed posts included criticisms of major companies such as Amazon and Microsoft, specifically regarding their management of customer data.

The FTC has not provided a response to a request for comment on this matter.

During her time as FTC chair under the Biden administration, Khan was recognized for her rigorous enforcement of antitrust laws, aiming to hold large corporations accountable for their impact on competition in the US market. In an interview with TechCrunch, Khan likened the leaders of Big Tech to “mob bosses.” However, under the Trump administration, the FTC’s approach to regulating Big Tech is expected to be less stringent.

The removal of these blog posts may be in violation of laws governing the handling of government data. This action is consistent with the Trump administration’s broader effort to eliminate specific terms from both public and internal government documents. The terms targeted for removal include words like “Black,” “disability,” “feminism,” “genders,” “Latinx,” “LGBTQ,” “transgender,” “victims,” and “women,” among others.
