Forza Horizon 5 has an official release date for the PS5: April 29. It was previously confirmed that the racing sim was going multiplatform, and now fans can look forward to exploring a digital replica of Mexico.

This PS5 version features cross-play support, a feature that has already been well-received by Xbox and PC players. Furthermore, the PS5 build allows players to purchase the same car packs as other platforms, including the Hot Wheels and Rally Adventure expansions. A new, free content update called Horizon Realms is also available for PS5, Xbox, and PC players, offering in-game achievements based on the game’s dynamic world, and it arrives on April 25.

Horizon 5 will be available on the PS5 in three different editions. The base game is priced at $60, the Deluxe Edition, which includes the game’s car pass, costs $80, and the Premium Edition, which includes all DLC, is $100. Pre-ordering the Premium Edition grants early access to the game on April 25, although it’s worth considering that the game has been out for over four years on Xbox and PC. All editions are digital only, as the Forza Horizon X account confirmed there are currently no plans for a physical release.

Developer Playground Games has outlined the various graphics modes available on the PlayStation 5. The standard PS5 console will have a 60 fps performance mode and a 30 fps quality mode. The PS5 Pro will have the same options, with “increased fidelity” in performance mode and ray-traced car reflections in races and free roam. Currently, there is no information on resolution targets for either console or how they compare to the Xbox Series X/S.

For those unfamiliar, Forza Horizon 5 is an excellent open-world racing game that received high praise upon its initial release in 2021. The game boasts top-notch graphics with a stunning design aesthetic, and the open world is enjoyable to explore. The game’s accessibility makes it enjoyable for everyone, regardless of their interest in cars.

This is the latest example of a former Xbox exclusive becoming available on other platforms. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle originally debuted as an Xbox exclusive in December but is now coming to the PS5. Other former exclusives that have made the transition include Sea of Thieves, Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, and Grounded.
