Fortnite Coming to Arm-Based Windows Machines
Later this year, Fortnite will be available on Arm-based Windows machines. According to a blog post, Epic Games is collaborating with Qualcomm to ensure the popular game is compatible with the new Windows architecture by offering Windows on Snapdragon support for Epic Online Services Anti-Cheat, also known as Easy Anti-Cheat.
Microsoft has been making a big push to transition its computing ecosystem to Arm-based hardware with Windows 11, particularly with its line of Copilot PCs. Although Qualcomm stated last year that most games should be compatible with its Snapdragon chips, titles with kernel-level anti-cheat technology would pose a challenge. Epic’s approach to prevent cheating in Fortnite and its Easy Anti-Cheat program falls into this category.
Epic did not provide a specific timeline beyond “later this year,” but having support for the company’s games and services will be crucial for convincing gamers and game developers to switch to Arm systems.
