Shadow Labyrinth, a wildly innovative take on Pac-Man and side-scrolling Metroidvania games, is set to arrive on digital store shelves on July 18. The game will be accessible on Nintendo Switch, PC via Steam, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Pac-Man, Puck-Man. Players will alternate between controlling the sword-wielding hero and Puck, who can climb walls and consume yellow dots. Additionally, a third form, a mecha construct called Gaia, will be available.

The gameplay appears to be fast-paced and intense, which may seem like an unusual direction for the beloved Pac-Man character. However, considering Bandai Namco’s history with the franchise, having developed the first Pac-Man game, it’s reasonable to give them the benefit of the doubt. After all, Pac-Man has been featured in various genres, including racing games, platformers, endless runners, puzzlers and more. The addition of another genre to the mix is not entirely unexpected.

Shadow Labyrinth will be available in two editions: the original version and a Digital Deluxe edition, which includes a digital artbook and the game’s soundtrack.
