The title Clown in a Cornfield is worth a million dollars – it’s eerie, evocative, and perfectly descriptive of Eli Craig‘s horror film, which was released in theaters earlier this year. The movie is set to arrive on Shudder and AMC+ on August 8, but even if you’re waiting for the streaming release, the San Diego Comic-Con immersive experience has plenty to offer.

One of the main attractions is the haunted corn maze, which is just as dark and spooky as you’d expect, even though it’s indoors. The queue transports you to Kettle Springs, Missouri, right in the middle of the Founder’s Day parade, and then you enter through a clown-mouthed doorway to navigate the corn stalks.

Be sure to listen for the sounds of oversized shoes, horn honks, and even a chainsaw roaring to life – and eventually, you’ll reach the escape room at the end, where Frendo puts a countdown clock on your survival chances. We’ve included a gallery of images, although it was challenging to take photos inside the maze itself.

For those wondering, this isn’t the type of haunt where monsters will grab you, although the recommended age of 13+ seems about right for the level of scare. After you “survive,” you’ll end up at a fun carnival pop-up themed around not just Clown in a Cornfield but also other Shudder and AMC+ horror titles, where you can play games to win tickets that can be redeemed for candy and non-alcoholic slushie drinks.

While reservations for the corn maze were available earlier in the week (check Shudder’s Instagram and X pages), your best bet now that SDCC is in full swing is to brave the daily standby line. The maze will be open today, July 25, and tomorrow, July 26, from noon-8 p.m. at the Hilton Gaslamp, Front Entrance Grass Lawn (look for the staircase with the Clown in a Cornfield signs), located at 401 K Street, San Diego.
