The latest iPad Pro is undoubtedly the most expensive iPad model available, offering more features than most users will ever need. However, for those with the budget and a desire for the best, it serves as an excellent choice for use as a primary mobile computer or for those seeking the most advanced iPad experience. We awarded the new iPad Pro a score of 84 in our review. The device is available in both 11-inch and 13-inch models, with the former starting at $999 and the latter at $1,299. Although the prices may be prohibitively expensive for many, they offer premium features that surpass those of other Apple tablets.
A key feature of the iPad Pro is its “tandem OLED” display panel, which provides richer colors and deeper blacks compared to the LCD screen on the iPad Air. This technology also enables a faster 120Hz refresh rate, making gaming and web browsing more fluid. Additionally, the display can reach up to 1,000 nits in SDR and up to 1,600 nits with HDR highlights, thanks to the stacking of two OLED panels. This innovation is a breakthrough in display technology, resulting in one of the best screens seen on any consumer device.
The design of the Pro is similar to that of the iPad Air but is slightly thinner and lighter. This difference may not be significant on paper, but the Pro’s slimmed-down frames make it easier to hold, particularly the 13-inch model. The other major upgrade is Apple’s new M4 SoC, which is currently exclusive to the new Pros. This chip easily handles demanding tasks and is expected to be more future-proof.
Beyond these upgrades, the base iPad Pro comes with 256GB of storage, twice that of the iPad Air. It also supports advanced features like hardware-accelerated ray tracing on its GPU and a faster neural engine. For those who want the absolute best, the 1TB and 2TB configurations offer 16GB of RAM and a more powerful version of the M4 chip, albeit at a minimum cost of $1,599.
