It hasn’t been long since we were mesmerized by the magic of defying gravity with the release of Wicked: Part One last year. Now, we’re getting a sneak peek at what’s to come as Jon M. Chu takes us back to the enchanting world of Oz for a final time, setting the stage for a reunion that will change Elphaba, Glinda, and us all – for good.
To commemorate the return of Wicked to theaters for a one-day-only event, Universal has unveiled the first trailer for Wicked: For Good, which will bring the second act of the beloved musical to the big screen.
Picking up where Part One left off, with Elphaba branded a wicked enemy of the state by Madame Morrible and the Wizard, and fleeing the Emerald City, leaving Glinda behind, For Good will follow Elphaba’s journey as she delves into the magical grimmerie and navigates life on the run. Meanwhile, Glinda will find herself torn as she’s taken in to become a new witch in her friend’s place.
As the events of The Wizard of Oz unfold, and Elphaba’s anticipated defeat at the hands of Dorothy and her friends looms, the stage is set for a dramatic showdown, filled with twists, turns, and, of course, plenty of singing, as we prepare for the curtain call of Wicked.
Wicked: For Good will see the return of Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, alongside Jonathan Bailey, Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Marissa Bode, Ethan Slater, and more, and is currently slated to hit theaters on November 21.
