The auto show, scheduled to take place from March 19-23, has prioritized the safety of attendees, exhibitors, and staff, according to Executive Director Eric Nicholl. “The Vancouver Auto Show’s primary concern is the safety of attendees, exhibitors, and staff,” Nicholl stated, as quoted by Canada’s Global News. “This decision will ensure all attendees can be solely focused on enjoying the many positive elements of the event.”

Tesla was reportedly given the opportunity to voluntarily withdraw from the Canadian auto show but declined, prompting the organizers to take action, as reported by CNN. It’s worth noting that Musk has previously made controversial statements about Canada, including a tweet that referred to the country as “not a real country,” which he later deleted.

Recent attacks on Tesla locations include a “suspicious” Cybertruck fire in Kansas City and vehicles set on fire at a Tesla repair facility in Las Vegas, with the word “resist” spray-painted on the building. These incidents have been described as “targeted attacks” by Las Vegas police. Additionally, peaceful protests have been organized under the name Tesla Takedown.

While the organizers of the Vancouver auto show did not explicitly mention President Donald Trump’s recent threats to invade Canada, it is likely that this was a factor in the decision to exclude Tesla. Trump has been known to make provocative statements, including his desire to make Canada the 51st state, which has caused concern among many.

Trump’s actions have also led to cuts in programs such as USAID, which are expected to have severe consequences, including the potential loss of millions of lives, according to estimates from the New York Times. Musk has been instrumental in these cuts, yet he has claimed that he is being unfairly targeted and that people are trying to kill him without reason.

Musk appeared on Fox News, claiming that he has only done “productive things” and that the attacks on him are a result of “some kind of mental illness.” However, his actions and statements have been widely criticized, and Attorney General Pam Bondi has labeled the attacks on Tesla as domestic terrorism, stating that they will be prosecuted as such.

Bondi stated, “The swarm of violent attacks on Tesla property is nothing short of domestic terrorism. The Department of Justice has already charged several perpetrators with that in mind, including in cases that involve charges with five-year mandatory minimum sentences. We will continue investigations that impose severe consequences on those involved in these attacks, including those operating behind the scenes to coordinate and fund these crimes.”

Fox News has come to the defense of Musk and Tesla, arguing that the company’s job creation should be taken into account. However, this argument has been met with criticism, particularly in light of the perceived coup by Musk and his associates.
