Boox, a company known for its E Ink devices, has released two new ereaders, the Go 7 and Go Color 7 (Gen II), which combine a unique form factor with Android 13. These devices support handwriting, courtesy of a $46 stylus, and are available for preorder. The Go 7 and Go Color 7 have an asymmetrical design with physical page turn buttons, similar to the Kindle Oasis, and run on Android, allowing users to install any reading app they prefer.

The Go Color 7 features E Ink Kaleido 3 technology, also used in the Kobo Libra Colour and Kindle Colorsoft, and displays color content at 150 ppi and black and white at 300 ppi. In contrast, the Go 7 has a monochrome Carta 1300 display with a resolution of 300 ppi. Both devices have 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, and microSD support, weighing 195g (6.9oz) each.

Both devices have an asymmetrical form factor, designed for one-handed use, with physical page turn buttons on one side. This design is inspired by the Kindle Oasis, which Amazon discontinued last year. The Go 7 and Go Color 7 also support pen input for note-taking, highlights, and markups, but the $46 InkSense stylus is sold separately. The stylus has 4,096 pressure levels of sensitivity and a multifunction button on the side, recharging via USB-C.

The $250 monochrome Go 7 is available for preorder on Boox’s website, with expected shipping around May 7. The $280 Go Color 7 is listed as “coming soon.” Both devices offer a unique reading experience, with the ability to install any reading app and support for handwriting with the InkSense stylus.
