Introduction to Blizzcon 2026

Following a two-year hiatus, Blizzard has announced the return of Blizzcon in 2026. The highly anticipated fan convention is scheduled to take place on September 12 and 13 next year at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California, its traditional venue.

Changes in Schedule

Notably, the 2026 edition of Blizzcon will occur slightly earlier in the year than its usual November timing. Historically, the event has been held in November for over a decade, with the exception of recent cancellations and an online-only edition. The inaugural installments were held in August or October.

Event Highlights and Updates

The 2026 Blizzcon will feature familiar attractions such as the opening ceremony, where Blizzard typically unveils significant game announcements, along with panels and other activities. Blizzard aims to “meaningfully elevate this iconic celebration,” though the specifics of this statement are unclear. Interested attendees can register for updates on the official Blizzcon website.

Recent History of Blizzcon

Blizzcon has experienced a tumultuous few years. The 2023 edition was the only in-person event to take place with fan attendance since 2019, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. Blizzard canceled the 2024 event without providing a detailed explanation. It is possible that Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard in late 2023 may have influenced the event’s future, potentially leading to the cancellation.
