Introduction to Neverway

Neverway is a game that promises to be something special, albeit in a grim, grotesque, and hellishly depressed kind of way. It has a certain appeal that could be summarized in a tagline: "It’s grim, it’s grotesque, it’s hellishly depressed, it’s… Neverway."

Game Overview

Neverway is a life-sim RPG that tells the story of Fiona, a young woman who leaves her mundane job to live on a remote island farm. However, her life takes a dramatic turn as she becomes the immortal herald of a dead god. The game involves exploring nightmare realms, battling horrifying creatures, and managing her farm and relationships with the local townsfolk. Fiona can form bonds with over 10 unique characters, unlocking combat abilities and deepening her connections with the community. The game also features farming and fishing mechanics, as well as a crafting system that allows players to create tools like the hookshot to supplement Fiona’s primary sword.

Development and Team

Neverway is developed by Coldblood Inc., an independent studio based in Vancouver. The studio was founded by Pedro Medeiros, a renowned pixel artist known for his work on Towerfall and Celeste, and Isadora Sophia, a former senior software engineer at Microsoft and creator of the open-source Murder Engine, which powers Neverway. The game’s soundtrack is composed by Disasterpiece, who has worked on Fez and It Follows, with sound design by Martin Kvale of NokNok Audio. OuterSloth, the indie game fund established by the creators of Among Us, is providing financial support for the game, while Coldblood Inc. is handling the publishing.

Release and Availability

Although Neverway was officially announced just a month ago during the Triple-i Initiative showcase, it has continued to generate buzz, particularly during the recent Day of the Devs event at Summer Game Fest 2025. The game is slated for release on PC, although a specific date has not been announced. Fans can currently wishlist Neverway on Steam.
