Have you had a chance to watch The Bondsman yet? The new Kevin Bacon series on Prime Video has just arrived, bringing with it a story infused with country music about a small-town bail bondsman who makes a grave mistake, dies on the job, and is sent to hell. However, the Devil has other plans for him, tasking him with tracking down escaped demons and returning them to their fiery homeland. The series is a fun, fast-paced, and occasionally graphic ride, with Bacon expressing hopes for a second season.
Although Prime Video has not yet announced whether The Bondsman will be renewed, both its star and its showrunner, writer, and executive producer Erik Olesen are optimistic that it will cast a spell on the streaming platform. It’s no secret that the first season concludes with a plot twist that strongly argues for the show’s continuation.
“I have sinister plans for a second season, and with the way I approached season one, I aimed to make it as challenging as possible for Amazon to deny us a second season,” Oleson stated in an interview with Variety. “There’s still a wealth of story to explore in this universe, and we’re only just beginning.”
In the same Variety piece, Bacon shared his enthusiasm, expressing his desire to delve deeper into his character, Hub Halloran: a failed musician and family man who learns significant lessons about emotional growth while serving as Satan’s bounty hunter. He also finds himself in remarkable brawls, including an extended underwater sequence and a confrontation involving a flaming chainsaw.
“While they haven’t officially picked up the show for a second season, we’ve already had discussions about what it could look like if they did,” Bacon told the trade. “Delving deeper into Hub’s issues—I’ll leave the plot details to the writers, but from a character perspective, I’m always seeking new and tougher challenges: whether they’re physical, like the demands of action sequences, or emotional, such as dealing with loss, guilt, and redemption.”
Now available on Prime Video, The Bondsman season one is a must-watch, especially for fans of Stan Against Evil, Ash vs. Evil Dead, and the recently concluded Evil.
