Enhancing Accessibility with Auracast
The inability to stream audio directly to hearing aids can be a significant barrier for individuals who rely on these devices, whether in educational settings, public transportation, or entertainment events.
To address this challenge, Android now offers support for Auracast, a groundbreaking Bluetooth technology that facilitates a direct connection between hearing aids and audio broadcasts in crowded public venues via your phone. This innovation also enables the application of hearing aid presets, accessible through your phone settings, to personalize audio streams according to your specific hearing needs. Furthermore, building on our collaboration with Bluetooth SIG to leverage the latest LE Audio technology, we are introducing the capability to connect to broadcasts using QR codes on Pixel 9 devices, thereby eliminating the need to navigate through settings.
To utilize Auracast, simply pair LE Audio compatible hearing aids from renowned manufacturers such as GN Hearing and Starkey with your Samsung Galaxy devices featuring One UI 7 and Android 15, or with Pixel 9 devices running the Android 16 beta. Once paired, you can tune into Auracast broadcasts from compatible TV streamers or public venues, enhancing your overall audio experience.
