The wait is finally over for fans of the Grid, as the first trailer for Tron: Ares has been released. This film has been in development for over 15 years, even before the release of Tron: Legacy in 2010, which became a cult classic and set up a potential sequel that never materialized, and appears to be unrelated to this new installment.
The trailer for Ares introduces a new, red grid and explores the idea of creations from this digital realm crossing over into the real world, rather than continuing the story threads from Legacy. Here’s the first look at Tron: Ares.
Given the film’s October release, this trailer provides an early glimpse, and it’s no surprise that it doesn’t reveal too much. However, it’s clear that director Joachim Rønning (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil) aims to deliver something new and exciting for fans, including a full-scale invasion of the Grid into the real world.
Tron: Ares boasts a star-studded cast, including Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Cameron Monaghan, Gillian Anderson, and Jeff Bridges, and is set to hit theaters on October 10.
