This week, Apple revealed that the enhanced, “more personalized” version of Siri, which was initially announced last year, will not be released on schedule. According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, this delay has also impacted the launch timeline for the company’s forthcoming smart home hub.

Apple issued a statement explaining that the advanced Siri features, which are a key component of the company’s Apple Intelligence suite, will require more time to develop than initially anticipated. The company now expects to introduce these features within the “coming year.”

As reported by Gurman, the smart home hub being developed by Apple is dependent on the new Siri capabilities, which means its launch has been postponed as well. Previously, Gurman had indicated that the device could potentially be released as early as March 2025. The device is expected to feature a six-inch touchscreen mounted on the wall, enabling users to make video calls, manage smart home devices, and interact with the device primarily through voice commands.

Notwithstanding the delay, Apple has commenced an internal testing program, where employees are allowed to take the device home to provide feedback, as reported.
