Amidst criticism of Siri’s inability to handle basic queries, Apple is restructuring its leadership team in charge of Siri’s AI features. According to a report by Bloomberg, Apple CEO Tim Cook is appointing Mike Rockwell, the current Vice President of the Vision Products Group, to lead the Siri team. This move is part of a larger effort to revamp Siri’s capabilities and improve its performance.

The decision reportedly comes after Cook lost confidence in John Giannandrea, the current AI head, to effectively execute product development. As a result, Giannandrea will no longer oversee Siri, and Rockwell will take on this responsibility, reporting to software chief Craig Federighi.

Meanwhile, Paul Meade, who previously led hardware engineering for the Vision Pro, will assume leadership of the Vision Products Group. This shuffle in leadership is likely aimed at addressing Siri’s struggles to keep up with modern AI advancements and consumer expectations.

Siri has been criticized for its inability to compete with contemporary AI, prompting Apple to integrate third-party AI services, such as ChatGPT, into its software. This move is an effort to stay current with the rapid developments in AI and meet consumer demands.
