Introduction to iPhone 17 Air
Following an initial report in January that Apple plans to introduce an “Air” model to its iPhone lineup, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has now provided additional details regarding the forthcoming thinner iPhone.
According to Gurman, the iPhone 17 Air is slated for release this fall, and similar to the MacBook Air, it will boast a thinner design than standard models, combining both high-end and low-end features. Apparently, Apple engineers had to exert considerable effort to develop a slimmer phone with thinner batteries without compromising on battery life.
## Features and Design Considerations
Gurman also reveals that Apple explored the possibility of making this the first “completely port-free iPhone,” where all charging would be done wirelessly and data syncing would be accomplished via the cloud.
However, Apple ultimately decided against this approach, at least for the time being, partly due to concerns about the potential response from European regulators, who have mandated that smartphone manufacturers support USB-C connectors.
