Google is reportedly planning to phase out the Google Assistant in favor of Gemini in its car infotainment system, Android Auto. The latest development indicates that the old microphone icon has been removed, and additional changes may be introduced in future updates.

Android Auto to Integrate Gemini Feature

Google is set to bring advanced AI capabilities to the infotainment system, starting with the integration of Gemini, which will eventually replace the Google Assistant. This move suggests that Google is ready to make the switch.

According to a report, the colored microphone icon for Gemini has been replaced with a simple white design. However, tapping on it still brings up the old interface.

Although this is not the final icon design, it is expected that Android Auto is working on several new interface changes. The report further claims that the icon will be replaced with a purple gradient microphone icon to match the Gemini branding.

With Gemini, Android Auto users can expect several benefits, including instant descriptions and reviews of locations, real-time fuel price comparisons based on location, and more.

As for availability, there is no official information yet, but based on the pace of development, it seems that Android Auto with Gemini is expected to be available soon on Android Auto devices.
