Android Auto has now reached version 14.0, which is being rolled out to all users. Although Google has not listed any significant features or changes in the changelog, an examination of the latest version reveals that the company is planning to replace Google Assistant with Gemini in Android Auto.
A recent discovery by our colleagues at 9To5Google suggests that Google is working on substituting Android Auto’s Google Assistant with Gemini, based on uncovered images and string codes.
As the latest Android Auto 14 stable version becomes available to users worldwide, it has been found that the update includes a new message for Android Auto users, stating, “Gemini is now the personal AI assistant in your car.” This indicates that Google intends to replace Assistant with Gemini.
Additionally, several survey question prompts related to Gemini have been noticed. However, when tested in the latest version, the Gemini service is not yet available, making it clear that Google is still working on this feature and preparing for a wider Android Auto 14 update rollout.
In previous versions, Android Auto has received numerous useful features and changes, including the recent introduction of climate controls in Android Auto 14. However, it remains to be seen when Google will implement these features in Android Auto.
