Activision Announces Discontinuation of Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile

Activision has announced on its official X account for Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile that the game will no longer receive updates and will be delisted from both the Google Play store and the App Store. As a final gesture, players are being given a last chance to download the game before it is removed by the end of the day.

Background and Reasons for Discontinuation

According to Activision, Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile failed to meet expectations, particularly among mobile-first players, in contrast to its success on PC and console platforms. Given the game’s troubled launch, this decision does not come as a surprise to its player base. The mobile adaptation of the battle royale title was launched in March 2024, two years after its initial announcement in 2022. Players spent over two years awaiting its release, only to experience roughly a year of gameplay marred by poor optimization and significant battery life demands.

Post-Discontinuation Access and Rewards

Players who install Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile before May 19, 2025, will continue to have access to the game, including cross-progression of shared inventories and existing content, as stated by Activision. The publisher has also assured that servers will remain online, with notifications to be sent for any changes. However, for dedicated fans, this does not guarantee the perpetual activity of Warzone Mobile servers.

Incentives for Migration to Other Titles

To encourage existing players to transition to other titles, Activision is offering rewards. Players can log into Call of Duty: Mobile using their Activision account to claim double the amount of COD points they had in their Warzone Mobile account, along with additional rewards. However, Activision has clarified that unused COD points and previous purchases in Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile cannot be refunded.
