This morning, on The Official Xbox Podcast, Fatima Kardar, Xbox Corporate Vice President of Gaming AI, and Jason Ronald, Vice President of Next Generation, revealed exciting AI-powered updates coming to Xbox players, aimed at saving time, discovering new games, and easing back into favorite titles.

On the podcast, Kardar introduced Copilot for Gaming, an AI-driven gaming companion that will soon be available for early preview to Xbox Insiders on mobile devices. This personalized companion is designed to help players get to their favorite games quickly, improve their skills with expert coaching, and enhance their social gaming experience. Copilot for Gaming is always available when needed but remains discreet when not required.

“Gaming is unique because it’s an entertainment form where you can become stuck,” said Kardar during the podcast. “That’s exactly when you want something to step in and offer assistance, saying, ‘let’s help you get past this challenge.’”

While reading about it provides some insight, seeing it in action offers a better understanding. We recommend watching the episode to see prototypes of Copilot for Gaming in action, available here:

Copilot for Gaming is based on three core principles: capability, adaptability, and personalization. It is designed to assist players in multiple ways, including personalized game recommendations, seamless game setup, helpful coaching, and maintaining connections with friends. Kardar emphasized that the player remains in control, deciding when and how to interact with Copilot, ensuring that it enhances rather than disrupts the gaming experience.

One of the primary issues that Copilot for Gaming aims to address is time management, helping players spend less time on tasks such as searching, downloading, and updating, and more time on what they enjoy – playing games. “All of this is aimed at one goal: to get you playing first,” Kardar explained. Whether it’s connecting players with games they’re likely to enjoy or reminding them where they left off in an old favorite, Copilot for Gaming is set to make the Xbox gaming experience more seamless and personalized.
