Rivian Rolls Out New Software Update
Rivian, a leading electric vehicle company, has announced the release of new software, featuring Enhanced Highway Assist as its primary function. This innovative system takes control of steering, acceleration, and braking on compatible highways, utilizing an infrared camera located in the rearview mirror to ensure the driver remains attentive to the road, even when their hands are not on the wheel. However, this update is exclusively available for Rivian’s Gen 2 vehicles, with no mention of its compatibility with Gen 1 models in the official blog post.
A new driving mode, known as Rally Mode, has been introduced for Rivian’s Performance Dual-Motor lineup, offering heightened responsiveness to steering and throttle input across various terrains. Furthermore, several Dual-Motor vehicles will have the option to purchase a performance upgrade, which includes three additional drive modes: Rally, Sport, and Soft Sand. This upgrade is available for a one-time fee of $5,000.
Both Gen 2 and Gen 1 models will receive additional features as part of the software update. These include automatic side mirror tilting when reversing, allowing for improved visibility during parallel parking, as well as tire puncture detection. Rivian is also adding the ability to change wheel type in the mobile app’s Settings menu, providing more accurate driving range estimates.
