Google Photos, a popular application for managing multimedia on Android devices, now allows users to back up their photos to the cloud, making them accessible from anywhere and saving storage space. However, Samsung users who take photos in RAW format using Expert RAW may encounter issues with backing up their photos.

It’s worth noting that Samsung devices can capture photos in both compressed formats like JPG and HEIF, which take up less storage space, and RAW format or DNG, which takes up more storage space but offers more editing capabilities and details. Flagship devices, in particular, are capable of capturing images in RAW format.

Prior to the latest update, Google Photos would automatically back up all formats, but according to a recent report, the latest version of Google Photos limits the backup of RAW format photos, which will help conserve cloud storage space.

To provide more flexibility, Samsung smartphones also offer the option to capture both compressed and uncompressed formats simultaneously. By enabling this feature, users can ensure that their photos are automatically backed up in compressed format, eliminating the risk of losing any photos.
