The beloved animated series SpongeBob SquarePants has been a staple of pop culture for over 25 years, and its impact extends far beyond the show itself. For those who grew up watching SpongeBob, the series has provided a vast array of meme-worthy moments. Magic: The Gathering, which is set to feature SpongeBob in its upcoming crossovers, is well aware of the show’s meme potential, as evident from its growing list of collaborations.
According to Collider, MTG‘s Secret Lair will release its Secret Lair x SpongeBob SquarePants collection, available in both foil and regular editions, on March 24 at 9 a.m. PT. You can sign up for notifications here to get your hands on it as soon as it drops.
This product launch consists of three parts. The first, Secret Lair x SpongeBob Square Pants: Legends of Bikini Bottom, showcases the characters with artwork by Caleb Meurer and Gregg Schigiel. The second, Secret Lair x SpongeBob Square Pants: Lands Under the Sea, features cards that explore familiar locations from the show, including Bikini Bottom, with art by Jon Vermilyea.
The most entertaining and creative part of this launch, however, is Secret Lair x SpongeBob Square Pants: Internet Sensation, which brings Magic‘s unique twist to SpongeBob‘s long history of internet memes. A notable example is this gem, illustrated by Tyler Walpole:

The image originates from the 2010 episode “That Sinking Feeling,” which has become a symbol for “loathing at a distance” and its variations. Do you need this card to complete your Magic: The Gathering experience, or do you want the full Internet Sensation set to display as a tribute to SpongeBob‘s meme legacy?
