The newest Samsung Android phones have begun to receive the updated One UI 7 software, which includes a brand-new feature known as the Now Bar. This bar is displayed on the lock screen, allowing users to quickly access sports scores, music controls, or even Google’s Gemini AI. However, the placement of the Now Bar depends on the price of the phone.

The Reason Behind the Different Placement of Samsung’s Now Bar on Various Galaxy Devices

On high-end phones, such as the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S25, the Now Bar is positioned at the bottom of the lock screen. This is because these models are equipped with advanced ultrasonic fingerprint scanners that use sound waves and are located higher up on the screen, leaving space for the bar below.

However, on more affordable Samsung phones, such as mid-range or budget models, the Now Bar is positioned higher up, nearly in the middle of the screen. This is due to the fact that these devices use older optical fingerprint scanners that rely on light and are located at the bottom of the display. As a result, the Now Bar must be shifted upward to avoid overlapping with the scanner’s animation.

This placement results in a significant amount of empty space on the lock screen, making the design appear somewhat disorganized. Nevertheless, Samsung likely had no alternative but to make this compromise in order to maintain the functionality of both the fingerprint scanner and the Now Bar, even if it doesn’t look as sleek.
