Keanu Reeves is set to reprise his role as an unkillable action hero in an upcoming film adaptation of his Boom Studios comic, BRZRKR.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the movie will be directed by Justin Lin, a longtime collaborator on the Fast & Furious franchise. This project marks the first major collaboration between Lin and Reeves, who had previously invested in Lin’s biopic Last Days. The BRZRKR film has been in development since 2021, alongside a two-season anime series. Although the project was initially announced some time ago, it had fallen under the radar due to Reeves’ busy schedule.
BRZRKR, created by Keanu Reeves, Matt Kindt, and Ron Garney, follows the story of an immortal warrior who has been fighting throughout history. In the present day, he works for the US government in exchange for help in uncovering the secrets behind his immortality and finding a way to reverse it. The comic was a huge success on Kickstarter and has since become a franchise, spawning several spin-off comics and a novel, The Book of Elsewhere, co-authored by China Miéville.
There is currently no release date or production schedule announced for the BRZRKR film. Justin Lin is also attached to direct and produce other projects, including Two For the Money starring Charlize Theron and Daniel Craig, and the live-action One Punch Man film.
