Introducing AI-Assisted Dubbing on Prime Video
Prime Video has announced that it is now testing AI-assisted dubbing for a selection of licensed movies and TV shows, as revealed by the Amazon-owned streaming service on Wednesday.
Details of the New Test
According to Prime Video, this new trial will offer AI-assisted dubbing services in English and Latin American Spanish, leveraging a combination of AI technology and human localization experts to "ensure quality control," as explained by the company.
Initial Availability
Initially, this feature will be available for 12 titles that previously did not have dubbing support. These titles include the Spanish animated film "El Cid: La Leyenda," the family-friendly drama "Mi Mamá Lora," and the indie movie "Long Lost."
Growing Popularity of AI Dubbing
AI-based dubbing has become increasingly popular in the entertainment industry, as it enables content to reach a wider audience. Several major streaming platforms have started to adopt this technology.
Industry Adoption
For example, Deepdub, a company that specializes in AI dubbing, has Paramount+ as one of its clients. YouTube has also made significant investments in this area, recently introducing an auto-dubbing feature that allows creators to translate their videos into multiple languages.
Enhancing the Viewing Experience
Prime Video already offers several AI-powered features designed to enhance the viewing experience, including "X-Ray Recaps," which summarize entire seasons and episodes, and "Dialogue Boost," which improves audio clarity for dialogue that may be difficult to hear.
