The inaugural season of Doctor Who featuring Ncuti Gatwa in the lead role experienced its share of highs and lows, yet ultimately left a positive impression, leaving audiences eager for more. Fortunately, a subsequent season with Gatwa’s Fifteenth Doctor was already in the works, and we are now getting a glimpse of what’s to come in April.

Following the departure of Ruby Sunday at the end of the previous season, the Doctor has found a new companion in Belinda Chatdra, played by Varada Sethu. As a nurse, she already has a lot on her plate, and after being swept up in the Doctor’s latest adventure, she yearns to return home. However, this may have to wait, as a mystery surrounding her has emerged – why does Mundy Flynn from the previous season have her face, and why is the Doctor crossing paths with both women?

The adventures that the duo will embark on throughout the season will not be delayed. In typical Doctor Who fashion, they will range from action-packed and apocalyptic to scary and silly. The pair will attend an intergalactic music festival, get caught up in a planet at war, and uncover a kidnapping plot. One of the most intriguing teasers is for Mr. Ring-a-Ding, a villain voiced by Alan Cumming, who is brought to life in 2D animation and is ready to enter the real world. This is an interesting twist in what promises to be an enjoyable season, especially since the series is approaching the 20th anniversary of its revival and its future has been uncertain lately.

Doctor Who will return on April 12 with new episodes on BBC and Disney+.
