It’s challenging to predict the implications of this price reduction for the future of the PS VR2. The headset was arguably overpriced at launch, and even at $400, it remains more expensive than the Meta Quest 3S, a self-contained headset that does not require a PlayStation 5 or PC to function. Sony has recently introduced support for low-latency hand tracking, but overall, the company appears hesitant to invest more time and resources into the platform.
