Following its announcement of Deep Research earlier this month, OpenAI has delivered on its promise to make the feature available to Plus users within a month. As of today, the tool, which enables users to generate comprehensive reports on a wide range of topics using ChatGPT, is being rolled out to Plus, Team, Edu, and Enterprise users. Previously, accessing Deep Research required a $200 per month Pro plan.
Initially, Plus users will have access to 10 Deep Research queries per month as part of their plan. Pro subscribers will see their monthly limit increased to 120, up from the previous 100. Furthermore, OpenAI has introduced a couple of enhancements to the tool’s functionality. ChatGPT will now incorporate images alongside citations to provide more detailed insights. The system has also improved its understanding of file types, which should result in more accurate document analysis.
To try out the new feature, simply write a prompt as you normally would, then tap the Deep Research icon before submitting your request to OpenAI. The time it takes for ChatGPT to compile an answer can range from five to 30 minutes, depending on the complexity of the question. OpenAI has noted that Deep Research is currently “very compute-intensive,” so it may be a while before Free users can access this capability.
